I was born and raised in Albemarle county, graduated from AHS and later received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Longwood University.  Following college, I meet my husband, Carson, and we moved to beautiful Madison county where we our family grew from 2 to 5.

In 2014 we were in search of a daycare option for our oldest child, Lennox, and found GCCCC.  Lennox started in the Toddler class, graduated from the Pre-K program and is now thriving in elementary school.  Our two daughters, Lyla and Hazel currently attend GCCCC and will be entering the Pre-K program and 2 Year Old class for the Fall 2019 semester.

Being a fulltime employee at Merkle Inc. and mother of three little children, I recognizes the importance of a quality childcare facility that can give my children what I cannot during the work day. My family has appreciated the care, compassion and love we have received from GCCCC. After joining the board in the Fall of 2018, I expressed my desire to giving back to the center and began this journey by raising money through a Merkle Inc. fundraising opportunity in early November.  As the Vice President I plan to continue raising money and finding other opportunities to better our school and staff.

Hi my name is Lizzie Daniels and my son, Parker, has been enrolled at GCCCC since the spring of 2017. My family and I live in Stanardsville and both commute to Charlottesville for work. I am an Endoscopy Technician at UVA and student at PVCC working on prerequisites for nursing school. My husband and I have enjoyed the time that Parker has been at the center, seeing the quality of care all of the children are given and seeing him learn new things. I am excited to join the board as treasurer to be more active in the center and to give back and continue to help GCCCC grow in different ways.

My name is Megan Downey, I am a physical therapist in Ruckersville and mom of two (6yo and 2.5yo). I grew up down the road in Albemarle county and my husband and I moved to Greene 3 years ago after spending 6 years in Atlanta. Our son has been attending GCCCC since we moved back to the area and we love the caring and educational atmosphere the center provides. I'm extremely organized and have great communication skills. I enjoy being part of a community and look forward to being able to help continue the success of the center!

My name is Laura Shifflett an I am currently a nurse at an OBGYN office.  I attended nursing school at PVCC and went on to get my BSN from ODU.  I worked at GCCCC in high school and while in nursing school.  My husband and I are both from Greene county and have lived here all our lives. When looking for child care for my oldest (now in kindergarten), it wasn’t a hard decision. I knew many of the teachers and felt that my son would be in the best possible hands. My daughter (3) now attends as well and I feel like I am dropping them off with family.  I joined the board because I wanted to be more involved with the center. I look forward to continuing my journey within the center and helping be a part of keeping it run smoothly.

Hi everyone! My name is Jordan Hargrave, and my son attends GCCCC and we have another little one on the way. I am originally from Danville, VA but moved to the area years ago to attend UVA. I decided to stick around and love calling Greene County home. I work as the Legislative Director for Delegate Rob Bell, and in my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking, and spending time with my family.

My husband and I are so grateful to have found GCCCC for our son and are pleased with the quality of care and warm and loving environment. We have watched our son grow both socially and academically since starting last year. I joined the board because I believe GCCCC is an asset to our community and want to help however I can.

Hello, everyone! My name is Amber Clore, and my daughter has been attending GCCCC since July of 2020. My family and I live in Stanardsville, and we have called Greene County home all of our lives. My husband and I knew we wanted somewhere that could provide quality care while we were unable to, and quickly knew the Center was home for us. While my daughter started part time at the Center, we quickly decided we wanted her to become full time after seeing how much she was growing and developing with the amazing quality of care and dedication the staff offered. I am so excited for this journey working with the other Board members to continue the success and growth of GCCCC.

Hi!  My name is Chelsea Ryder and I am a girl mom x3 (ages 10, 4 and 1.5)!  My middle daughter is currently enrolled at GCCCC and will be attending the Pre-K program in the fall.  I was raised in Greene and am very excited to be raising my family here as well.  I am an Administrative Coordinator for the Cardiology division at the UVA School of Medicine.  We have been extremely pleased with the education our daughter has received so far from GCCCC, and we are also very thankful for the genuine care and love that the amazing staff provides to our child.  I joined the board to be more hands-on involved in hopefully helping GCCCC continue to grow and succeed for our community!

My name is Parker Bryant and my two daughters have been attending GCCCC since 2020 where they have enjoyed meeting new friends and learning new things with an amazing group of teachers and staff. Our family moved to Greene County in 2019 and have loved every minute of it. I currently work at a non-profit that supports facilities specializing in Maternal and Pediatric HIV/AIDS care in Africa. Prior to that, my wife and I met while serving in the US Peace Corps where we worked as teachers, so we appreciate how hard that job can be!

As a member of the board, I hope to support the school and staff as they continue to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment.
