Board of Directors
The Board of Directors can be emailed directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
The members of the board of directors are as follows:
Ashley Artale, President
My name is Ashley Artale and I have been a member of the GCCCC family for 4.5 years as well as the Treasurer of the board of directors since November 2016. I currently have two children enrolled at the center. Jaxon is a First Grader at NGPS and attends GCCCC before and after school. Payton is a member of the Pre-K class at GCCCC and has been attending the center since the day she turned 16 months. I have always lived in the area, growing up in Madison and currently residing in Ruckersville for the last 5 years. I am the owner of Artale Bookkeeping & Payroll Services, LLC, serving several clients in the surrounding area as well as working as an accountant at Robinson, Farmer, Cox & Associates. Prior to that I was an accountant at St. Anne's Belfield School and part of the Audit Department at Hantzmon Wiebel, LLP for four years, primarily working with non-profit organizations. In 2007, I received a BA in Accounting from James Madison University. Prior to joining the GCCCC board I served as the Treasurer of the American Red Cross Board. My main goals are to keep the center fiscally strong while updating facilities to mirror the quality of child care that our teachers and staff provide to all of our children.
Amanda Joyce, Vice President
I was born and raised in Albemarle county, graduated from AHS and later received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Longwood University. Following college, I meet my husband, Carson, and we moved to beautiful Madison county where we our family grew from 2 to 5.
In 2014 we were in search of a daycare option for our oldest child, Lennox, and found GCCCC. Lennox started in the Toddler class, graduated from the Pre-K program and is now thriving in elementary school. Our two daughters, Lyla and Hazel currently attend GCCCC and will be entering the Pre-K program and 2 Year Old class for the Fall 2019 semester.
Being a fulltime employee at Merkle Inc. and mother of three little children, I recognizes the importance of a quality childcare facility that can give my children what I cannot during the work day. My family has appreciated the care, compassion and love we have received from GCCCC. After joining the board in the Fall of 2018, I expressed my desire to giving back to the center and began this journey by raising money through a Merkle Inc. fundraising opportunity in early November. As the Vice President I plan to continue raising money and finding other opportunities to better our school and staff.
Lizzie Daniels, Treasurer
Hi my name is Lizzie Daniels and my son, Parker, has been enrolled at GCCCC since the spring of 2017. My family and I live in Stanardsville and both commute to Charlottesville for work. I am an Endoscopy Technician at UVA and student at PVCC working on prerequisites for nursing school. My husband and I have enjoyed the time that Parker has been at the center, seeing the quality of care all of the children are given and seeing him learn new things. I am excited to join the board as treasurer to be more active in the center and to give back and continue to help GCCCC grow in different ways.
Megan Downey, Secretary
My name is Megan Downey, I am a physical therapist in Ruckersville and mom of two (6yo and 2.5yo). I grew up down the road in Albemarle county and my husband and I moved to Greene 3 years ago after spending 6 years in Atlanta. Our son has been attending GCCCC since we moved back to the area and we love the caring and educational atmosphere the center provides. I'm extremely organized and have great communication skills. I enjoy being part of a community and look forward to being able to help continue the success of the center!
Amber McDaniel, Member
Hi. My name is Amber McDaniel. I recently joined the board in 2018, but our daughter has been a full time student at GCCCC since 2015. GCCCC has become a second family for us. As parents, we are confident in the care and learning opportunities Anna receives and encouraged by her enthusiasm for school. If you are interested in joining the Friends of the Center Committee, volunteer opportunities, or fundraising, please contact me. I am excited to be part of the GCCCC community!
Tara Snow, Member
My name is Tara Jean Snow and I have been a resident of Greene county for 33 years. I have been married to Travis Snow for 7 years and we have a beautiful daughter, Kamdyn, who is 4 and has attended the center since she was 2. Travis and I both grew up within the GCCCC community; we attended from the ages of 2-12 years. I became a volunteer at the center and later an employee for several years. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering within the center and appreciate all that everyone does to make GCCCC as great as it is. As a family, we enjoy spending time together, going to the beach, traveling to pageants and enjoying our two dogs Maci and Shadow.
Laura Shifflett, Member
My name is Laura Shifflett an I am currently a nurse at an OBGYN office. I attended nursing school at PVCC and went on to get my BSN from ODU. I worked at GCCCC in high school and while in nursing school. My husband and I are both from Greene county and have lived here all our lives. When looking for child care for my oldest (now in kindergarten), it wasn’t a hard decision. I knew many of the teachers and felt that my son would be in the best possible hands. My daughter (3) now attends as well and I feel like I am dropping them off with family. I joined the board because I wanted to be more involved with the center. I look forward to continuing my journey within the center and helping be a part of keeping it run smoothly.
