FAQs

Everything you need to know about Greene County Child Care Center. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Please reach out to our team and we'll be delighted to get back to you.
Which program is right for my child?
Age is the primary factor, but we also consider potty training status and developmental readiness. Here's a quick guide:
  • 16-24 months: Young Toddlers program
  • Age 2 (diapers): Two-Year-Olds program
  • Ages 2-4 (potty trained): Preschool Explorers
  • Ages 4-5: Pre-K Academy
  • Ages 5-12: Before/After School or Summer Camp
Still not sure? We're happy to discuss your child's specific needs during a tour or phone call!
What if my child is potty training but not fully trained?
We understand potty training is a process! If your child is actively training and showing readiness, we can work with you. For our Preschool Explorers program (ages 2-4), children should be mostly potty trained, meaning they can tell you when they need to go and have more successes than accidents. We'll partner with you to maintain consistency between home and school. If your child is just beginning the potty training journey, our Two-Year-Olds (Diapers) program might be a better fit until they're more confident.
Do you offer part-time schedules?
Yes! We offer both full-time and part-time schedules for our infant, toddler, and preschool programs. Part-time typically means 3-4 days per week, though we try to accommodate individual scheduling needs when possible. Contact us to discuss what works best for your family.
What are your hours of operation?
Our regular hours are 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. We're closed on major holidays and follow a calendar that we share with families at the beginning of each school year.
Do you close for holidays? Which ones?
We're closed for major holidays including:

  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day

If you need information regarding the Center closing due to weather, please call the Center at 434-985-7852.  You may also check the GCCCC Facebook page.
What happens during bad weather or snow days?
Safety is our top priority. We'll communicate closures via ProCare, email and text as early as possible.
What is your sick policy?
Parents should inform the center if their child has been diagnosed with any communicable diseases such as common cold, flu, strep throat, stomach flu, any viruses or fever. Fever will be considered a temperature of 101 degrees or higher. Children must be fever, diarrhea or vomit free for 24 hours or have a doctor’s note before returning.

The center will only administer emergency medications; this includes an inhaler for asthma, Benadryl and/or EpiPen for allergies. No other medications will be accepted or administered.

Parents should call the center before 9 a.m. if your child is going to be absent or coming in late.
